  • The fact that Hector killed two Phocian commanders called 'Schedios' was noted in antiquity. In his commentary, Kirk (s.v. 2.517) write ''Aristarchus ... could not explain the anomaly. A possible conclusion is that the oral tradition knew vaguely of a Phocian king called Skhedios in the past but was uncertain about his parentage'.
